Binding (Standard 8 Module Reference)

Review the applicable Feature modules and any examples for the Binding setting in Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8).

This setting contains a string that specifies the type of binding used by Unified Write Filter (UWF).

Set to Loose Binding to enable specifying a volume by using a drive letter. Set to Tight Binding to specify a volume by using the volume device identifier.

With loose binding, drive letters can be assigned to different volumes if the hardware or volume configuration changes. By using tight binding, the device identifier is unique to the storage volume and is independent from the drive letter assigned to the volume by the file system.

The following table shows the modules that you can apply this setting to. In Image Configuration Editor (ICE), you can follow the corresponding path to set this setting for a module.
