Prepare Users for First ACS Login

After you have completed all of the steps needed to use ACS to authenticate users, you are ready to send User Name and Authentication Key values to the users and instruct them to submit these values when they log on to a Microsoft Dynamics NAV client, either Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client or Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client. For more information, see Use ACS to Authenticate Users.

For Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client users, also send the URL for the client. This is the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server.

If you used a trusted certificate for your Client Services certificate, or if you have installed a self-signed certificate in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities/Certificates certificate store, then Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client will work with this URL.

If the certificate is not a trusted certificate, and has not been installed in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities/Certificates certificate store, then the browser will detect that and present a warning such as the following.

Problem with the certificate

Users can choose the Continue button to proceed to Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client.

When the Administrator opens the User page and edits the User card for a user who has successfully logged on using ACS authentication, the ACS Access Status value will change to Enabled.
