Modify the Device panel settings
When you are working on a Windows Phone project, you can modify the device settings to change the appearance of the Windows Phone-style application page in the document window. You can also change the preview settings from a WXGA, WVGA, or 720p Windows Phone Emulator, or to a Windows Phone device.
If you preview your Windows Phone project in the emulator, you can also change certain settings after you run your project.
To modify the device settings for a Windows Phone project
In the Device panel, do one or more of the following:
Orientation You can change the orientation of the application page by clicking Portrait or Landscape .
Display This is option is only visible when you choose Windows Phone 8.0 projects. Click an option to have your application scale to the corresponding screen size of the device.
Theme You can preview the background theme of the application page by clicking Dark or Light. You can also preview the accent colors for each theme by clicking a color from the drop-down list to the right of the theme preview options.
Accent You can preview the accent colors for each theme by clicking a color from the drop-down list.
Show chrome Click to show or hide the chrome UI on the phone app.
Clip to display Choose this option to size the data content on the phone to fit within the app viewing area.
Deploy target You can choose whether to preview your application on the emulator or a device by clicking an emulator version or clicking Device.
To modify the settings for the Windows Phone Emulator
- After you run your project, hover the pointer over the emulator to display the Windows Phone Emulator controls, and then do one or more of the following:
