The FrontPage Server Extensions Remote Protocol is transported via HTTP version 1.1 GETs, POSTs and responses, as described in [RFC2616] sections 9.3, 9.5, and 6.

The dialogview (section 3.1.5.3.17.1) relies on the FrontPage Server Extensions Remote Protocol to discover the name and location of the Microsoft Office Web Services Server executable by using the information returned in _vti_inf.html. Windows extensions to WebDAV use its error codes, as described in [MS-WDV].
