2.1 Overview

The primary components of the File Access Services (FAS) are a minimum of two computers, linked by a network. At least one of the computers acts as a server, providing remote access to data that is allowed to be shared. The other computer acts as a client in order to request data from the server machine. Note that there is no reason why any given computer cannot act as both client and server simultaneously. Typical installations consist of many more than two computers.
