Notifications for Windows Phone 8

Applies to: Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone Silverlight 8.1 | Windows Phone OS 7.1

In Windows Phone you can create and schedule notifications either locally, or by using a cloud service. You can use notifications to send toasts, update Tiles on the Start screen, and even display alarms and reminders. This section describes everything you need to know about notifications in Windows Phone.

You can create notifications to your Tile, create a toast notification, and create an alarm or reminder by setting up an immediate, one-time, or recurring schedule. For more info, see Local notifications for Windows Phone 8.

You can send updates to your Tile, create a toast notification, or send raw data to your app by using push notifications from a cloud service. For more info, see Push notifications for Windows Phone 8.
