There are two Lync SDK development models:

  • Microsoft Lync 2010 Controls

  • Microsoft Lync 2010 API

There are two Lync 2010 API application development scenarios:

  • Use the Microsoft Lync Extensibility API to extend an existing application by integrating a new Microsoft Lync 2010 conversation window in the application.

  • Use the Microsoft Lync Model API to replicate Lync 2010 features in an application while suppressing the Lync 2010 user interface.
