Create financial dimension (form) [AX 2012]

Click General ledger > Setup > Chart of accounts > Configure account structures. On the Action Pane, click Edit. Click Add segment. Select <New financial dimension>, and then click Add segment.
Use this form to create a financial dimension. You can select a predefined, system dimension to use as an account segment, or you can create your own.
The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

| Use values from | Select a predefined, system dimension to use financial dimension values from that dimension, or select < Custom dimension > to create your own. |
| Dimension name | If you select a system dimension, the dimension name will be displayed. You can change the name. Otherwise, enter a name for the dimension. |
| Report column name | Enter a short name for the dimension that can be used on reports if the column is not wide enough to display the full dimension name. |
| Dimension value mask | Enter a format for dimension values to follow. For example, if you enter ####, the dimension value must be four characters long. This field is available only when you select < Custom dimension > in the Use values from field. |
