Item Units of Measure Window

Specifies the units of measure that are set up for an item so that you can assign units of measure to the item for the following purposes:

  • Assign a base unit of measure on the item’s item card to define how it is stored in inventory and to serve as the conversion basis for alternate units of measure.

  • Assign alternate units of measure to purchase, production, or sales documents to specify how many units of the base unit of measure you handle at a time in those processes. For example, you may buy the item on pallets and use single pieces in your production.

The Qty. per Unit of Measure field specifies how many units are contained in one unit of the base unit of measures. For more information, see the Qty. per Unit of Measure field.

In the Base Unit of Measure field at the bottom of the window, you can view or change the item’s base unit of measure. You can also change the base unit of measure in the Base Unit of Measure field on the item card.

Important

The base unit of measure must have value 1 in the Qty. per Unit of Measure field.

In the Item Units of Measure window, you also specify each unit of measure’s physical measurements to calculate how many can units of the item can fit on bins in the warehouse.

Note

By default, the Height, Width, Depth, and Cubage fields are not displayed in the Item Units of Measure window.
