Troubleshoot working with pushpins
I can't create a pushpin.
Your computer might not have enough available disk space. Check the amount of disk space that your computer has.
Also:
-
Remove unnecessary files from your computer's hard disk drive. For example, empty the Recycle Bin or delete temporary files.
-
Try creating a pushpin again.
I can't move or delete a pushpin.
Make sure that the symbol you're trying to move or delete represents a pushpin and not a point of interest. Points of interest, such as businesses and attractions, cannot be moved or deleted. You can, however, choose not to display these on the map. Learn about showing or hiding places on the map.
Linked pushpins cannot be moved or deleted. If your pushpin was created by linking to a source file, you cannot move or delete it later. Instead, you can delete the record in your source file and then update your linked data, or you can import your data.
None of my records were mapped.
The location columns may not have been given the correct headings. You must use one of the headings in the drop-down list at the top of each column for every column that contains location information. MapPoint uses these headings to place your records on the map. Make sure that each heading describes the type of geographical information contained in that column.
Also:
-
The correct country/region may not have been specified. For instance, if you are importing or linking to Canadian data, select Canada in the Country/Region list when you choose a valid heading for each location field. If your data contains records from more than one country, select <Multi/Other> in the Country/Region list. If you are mapping data from multiple countries or regions, be sure to include in your source data a column or field that contains the country/region name for each record.
-
The correct country/region has been specified, but the column headings may be incorrect. If you are mapping data from multiple countries or regions, make sure that you have chosen correct column headings.
-
The source data may not be formatted correctly and consistently. It is important that the information in your source data is consistently organized. For example, make sure that all your cities are in the same column.
-
You may have skipped or canceled matching records. If you canceled matching records, you can match them to the map later. If you skipped records, you can match these records to the map later.
