Troubleshoot printing
I can't print a document.
Try the following:
-
Check your printer setup in other Windows-based programs, such as Microsoft Office Word.
-
Check your MapPoint printer settings.
-
If you are able to print a document from another program, make sure that the printer you are trying to use is identified in the MapPoint Print dialog box. On the File menu, click Print. In the Print dialog box, under Printer, in the Name list, select the applicable printer name.
-
Change the map quality setting to Normal or Draft.
-
If you are unable to print from any program, refer to the print troubleshooter in Windows Help to determine and solve the problem. To refer to Windows Help, click start on the taskbar, and then click Help and Support.
Note If you've tried these solutions but are still unable to print, refer to your printer documentation for more information.
My driving directions aren't printing properly.
Try the following:
-
If your printer is configured to print in landscape orientation, use portrait orientation instead.
-
If you are printing your driving directions on paper that is more than 11 inches wide, switch to standard letter-sized paper (8.5 by 11 inches) and print the map in portrait orientation.
My printed map is incomplete, has unexpected characters, or does not spool to the printer properly.
For best results, your printer should have at least 1 megabyte (MB) of memory. You may be able to work around this issue by reducing the print quality.
My printed map doesn't fill the entire page.
To preserve map proportions, MapPoint by default prints only the area of the map that is visible on the computer screen. As a result, the printed map may not fill the entire page.
Try the following:
-
When printing the current map view, you can print a full-page map. On the File menu, click Print. In the Print dialog box, click Current map view, and then select the Extend view to fit page check box. The printed area of a full-page map extends the current map view to include as much of the map as fits on the page.
-
Resize the window so that the map area is about twice as tall as it is wide, and then print the map in portrait orientation.
