Settings options
The Settings tab of the Options dialog box contains options for basic program operation.
Check for new version of application periodically
Under Startup, select the Check for new version of application periodically check box.
Search online business listings when connected to the internet
Under Find, select the Search online business listings when connected to the internet check box.
Always clear history when exiting program
Under Find, click Clear now.
Always clear the addresses and places saved when you exit MapPoint
Under Find, select the Always clear history when exiting program check box.
Note This check box is cleared when MapPoint starts the first time.

Show map distance in miles or kilometers
Under Units, click Miles or Kilometers.

Show map coordinates in decimal degrees or degrees/minutes/seconds
Under Coordinates, click Decimal degrees or Degrees/minutes/seconds.

When you change this option, the sample latitude and longitude pair changes so that you can see how the coordinates are displayed.
Show map coordinates as N/S/E/W or plus/minus
Under Coordinates, click N/S/E/W or Plus/minus.

If N/S/E/W is selected, latitude and longitude coordinates appear as degrees followed by a letter (N, S, E, or W) that indicates the direction.

If Plus/minus is selected, coordinates south of the equator or west of the prime meridian appear as negative numbers.

Under Data maps, click Show currency symbols.

Display an AutoSave message when you save a map that has associated Web pages
Under Save as web, select the Show autosave message on save check box.

This check box is selected when MapPoint starts the first time.

When this check box is selected, a message appears that reminds you to turn on or off the AutoSave as Web page feature for the map that is currently open. The AutoSave as Web page feature automatically updates your saved Web pages when changes are saved to the map file from which it was created.

You may want to turn off this feature in certain circumstances, such as when you're making interim changes to a map, adding confidential or sensitive information, or saving a map file that was created by someone who is not a trusted source.
