Save custom map settings and reuse them when the map reopens

You can save your own custom map settings so that your settings are automatically applied to the map when you reopen it. For example, if you spend time configuring a map so that it displays a particular map style, fonts, or city, you can save those settings so that they are automatically applied to the map the next time you open it.

Set your default starting location and other custom map settings

Choose this option when you always want your map to open with the same custom map settings.

  1. Open MapPoint, and then change the map so that it displays the territory or area you want to display each time you reopen the map. You can also make (and save) additional custom map settings, such as changing the map style or hiding information on the map.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Map tab.
  3. Under Default application settings, click Save current settings, and then click Save now.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click OK.

Open the map at the last location with the same custom map settings you used last

When you choose this option, MapPoint saves your custom map settings when you close the program. When you reopen the map, MapPoint applies the same custom map settings that you used last. If you make further changes to the map, your changes are saved again when you close the program.

  1. Open MapPoint, and change the map however you want to.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Map tab.
  3. Under Default application settings, click Save upon close, and then click OK.

Open the map using the default map settings

Use this option to restore the map settings that originally came with MapPoint.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Map tab.
  2. Under Default application settings, click Use default settings, and then click OK.
