Map options
To set the map options, click Tools, click Options, and then click the Map tab.
Map font size
To change the map font size, in the Map font size list, select one of the following relative font sizes: Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller, or Smallest.
Notes

The map font size is set to Smaller when MapPoint starts the first time.

When you change the map font, the font used in the legend also changes.

The larger the font size, the fewer the number of place names that will fit on your map.
Map style
To change the map style, in the Map style list, select one of the following map styles: Road map, Road and data map, Data map, Terrain map, Political map, or Road map (Night).
Note���Road map is selected by default when MapPoint starts the first time. For detailed information about the different map styles, see Choose a map style.
Show globe view (orthographic projection) when zoomed out
To show the globe view (orthographic projection) when the map is zoomed out, select the Show globe view when zoomed out check box.
Note���This check box is checked by default when MapPoint starts the first time. For more information about this feature, see Choose between a flat map view or globe view.
Default application settings
To save your own custom map settings, choose from the following:

Discards any changes you made to the map. When you reopen the map, MapPoint automatically applies settings in the default template file (New North American Map.ptt)to the map. |

Save upon close |
Saves any custom map settings when you close MapPoint. For example, if you want the map to automatically open and display a particular city, make sure that city is displayed the way you want on the map when you close MapPoint. When you reopen, MapPoint automatically applies the custom map settings that were in use when you last closed the program. |

Save current settings |
Allows you to save custom map settings that are applied to the map right now. When you choose this option, you must next click Save now to save your customized map settings as they are right now. When you reopen, MapPoint automatically applies the custom map settings that were in use when you clicked Save now. |
