Create a new map

On the File menu, click New.

In the New dialog box, click New North American Map to open a new map based on the default MapPoint map template, or click Data Mapping Wizard, Import Data Wizard, or Link Data Wizard to begin the process of importing data, linking to data, or creating a data map.
New North American Map
When you click New North American Map and then click OK, MapPoint opens a new map based on the default MapPoint map template.
Data Mapping Wizard
When you click Data Mapping Wizard and then click OK, MapPoint starts a wizard that takes you through the process of creating a new data map. The data that is used to create the map can be either your own data or demographic data that comes with MapPoint.
Import Data Wizard
When you click Import Data Wizard and then click OK, MapPoint starts a wizard that takes you through the process of bringing data in from another source (such as an Excel spreadsheet or Access database) and then using the Data Mapping Wizard to create a data map based on that information.
Link Data Wizard
When you click Link Data Wizard and then click OK, MapPoint starts a wizard that takes you through the process of linking your map to data that is maintained in another source (such as an Excel spreadsheet or Access database) and then using the Data Mapping Wizard to create a data map based on that information.
Note You can also click New
on the Standard toolbar to open a new map using the New North American Map template.
