About online content
MapPoint makes it easy for you to get detailed, local, and up-to-date information about points of interest. When your computer is connected to the Internet, MapPoint provides seamless links to the latest online content available for the places that interest you.
Note If your computer is not connected to the Internet, you can still access information about places within the MapPoint program itself, which contains information on more than 2.5 million businesses and points of interest.
When your computer is connected to the Internet, you can do the following:
-
After you’ve specified the place you’re interested in and clicked the name in search results, MapPoint connects to the Bing web site, which instantly scans the Internet to find online articles, maps, and other types of information about that place.
-
MapPoint also provides the address and phone number of each business; the rating for the business (indicated by the number of stars assigned to that business based on customer feedback); and links to customer reviews.
-
You can easily send the information from search results to a mobile device, such as your phone by using the Send to Mobile feature. You can also add search results (such as a business address) to a route by using the Add to Route feature.
