Type: Automated test
Overview
The Graphics - Additional Qualifications – Nominal Range Color (manual) test verifies that a display adapter is applying the correct nominal range setting for color when playing video.
Details
This is tested by using a grayscale pattern that allows verification of nominal range settings.
This test verifies the following requirements:
GRAPHICS-0008: Display adapter or chipset meets color space requirements
Success: This test succeeds if the device driver and device complete the following:
The test prompts the tester to switch the display adapter to the default nominal color range.
The test plays back a gray level test pattern file.
The test takes a screenshot and verifies that the brightness values in the screenshot are 16 and 235 for pixels with values 16 and 235 in the recording.
The test prompts the tester if the range can be changed to full.
- If the tester answers yes, it plays back the same file, takes a screenshot, and checks that the brightness values are 0 and 255 for pixels with 16 and 235 in the recording.
- If the range cannot be changed, this test is omitted.
Failure: This test fails if:
- The brightness values of pixels in the screenshot are not as expected.
- Any of the steps above fail.
Run time: 5 minutes
