Share a Work Item Query (Team Explorer Everywhere)

You can share a work item query by saving it as a team query or by storing it in a file that you can share. For information about how to build a query to find work items in Team Foundation, see Finding Bugs, Tasks, and Other Work Items (Team Explorer Everywhere).

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Readers group. Other restrictions may apply. For more information, see Organize and Set Permissions on Work Item Queries (Team Explorer Everywhere) and the following page on the Microsoft Web site: Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To save a query as a team query

  1. Right-click the query that you want to save, and then click Edit Query.

  2. On the File menu, click Save As.

  3. (Optional) In Name, specify a name for the query.

  4. Under Select the query type and save location, click Server.

  5. Click Browse and, in the Select Query Folder dialog box, click Team Queries or a subfolder of Team Queries, and then click OK.

    The Select Query Folder dialog box closes, and the new destination appears in Query folder.

  6. Click OK to save the team query.

To save a query as a file

  1. Right-click the query that you want to save, and then click Edit Query.

  2. On the File menu, click Save As.

  3. Under Select the query type and save location, click File.

    If you want to save the query file in a folder other than the default location, click Browse, and specify the folder.

  4. On the File menu, click Save.

    You can also press Ctrl+S.
