How to: Locate the Visual Studio Product Key
You may want to locate the product key for Visual Studio when you are working with customer support, upgrading from a trial version, or updating your own records.
Note
To find the product key for Team Foundation Server, follow the steps in Locate or Change the Product Key for Team Foundation Server.
To find the product key for Visual Studio Professional, Visual Studio Premium, Visual Studio Ultimate, Visual Studio Test Professional, or Visual Studio Express edition
Look for the product key in one of these locations:
On the installation media.
On the MSDN Subscriptions page of the Microsoft website.
Documentation or other communication from the vendor from whom you purchased the software.
The Visual Studio Express editions use identical keys. To get the product key for a Visual Studio Express edition, register again and the key is provided.
