UI Sample Browser Registry Settings (Compact 7)

You can configure the UI sample browsers by using registry entries. The entries in the following table are located in the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main.

Disable Auto SIP

REG_DWORD

If set to 0 (zero), the software-based input panel (SIP) appears automatically when a caret goes into a text input element (input, text area, and so on) on webpages. If set to 1, the SIP does not appear automatically.

Determines whether to always expand the image size to contain all the alternative text. To enable expansion of the image, set the value to 1.

SmoothScroll

REG_DWORD

Specifies whether the window scrolls smoothly when scrollbars are used. A nonzero number enables smooth scrolling but can also increase response time.

URL of the default browser home page.

If the locale identifier is 4011 (Japan), the default URL is http://www.jp.msn.com/. For all other locales, the default URL is http://www.msn.com.

Search Page

REG_SZ

URL of the default browser search page.

If the locale identifier is 0411 (Japan), the default URL is http://www.yahoo.co.jp/. For all other locales, the default URL is http://www.bing.com.

Use Stylesheets

REG_DWORD

Enables or disables style sheets in the browser. To enable the use of style sheets, set to 1. To disable the use of style sheets, set to 0 (zero).

The following table shows the settings that register the sample browser container for viewing webpages in the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Htmlfile. Windows Embedded Compact registers these settings automatically at build time, and you only change them if the name of the browser application changes.

You can also set this key as REG_DWORD "A8" to enable all three protocols.
