Reporting in Duet Enterprise

Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP reporting functionality enables Microsoft SharePoint 2010 users to request delivery of SAP report documents to SharePoint 2010 document libraries.

Applies to: Duet Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint and SAP Server 2.0 | Office 2010 | SharePoint Server 2010

In addition, Duet Enterprise enables information workers to view relevant SAP reports in other application contexts, such as in a Duet Enterprise taskflow.

Confidentiality of SAP Reports in Duet Enterprise

SAP reports can have varying degrees of confidentiality, requiring complex access protection. Access to a particular report is based on a user's permissions or SAP role.

The SAP report generation process is asynchronous, that is, report run requests are queued and executed one by one. Therefore, the delivery to SharePoint 2010 is also asynchronous.

Business users and administrators can use the reporting site feature to work across solutions, such as a workflow solution or leave management solution. The reporting site feature works with the SAP document publisher. It consumes SAP report instances that originate from the SAP document publisher and routes them to the appropriate locations in the SharePoint 2010. The reporting feature manages document routing rules and permissions based on the permissions that are received from the SAP report generator.

Using SAP Business Reports in SharePoint Server 2010

You can do the following with SAP business reports in SharePoint Server 2010:

  • Open SAP reports from the Reports page. The Reports page on your team site shows you a list of the reports that Duet Enterprise delivered for you. The list includes the reports that you requested, reports that you subscribed to, and reports that a manager or administrator assigned to you.

  • Open a report from an email notification message. When Duet Enterprise delivers a report to the Report Center, it also can send you a notification of the delivery in an email message, which can contain a link to a related report. In addition, when you receive an email message about a task assignment, the message might contain a link to a related report.

  • Subscribe to a shared report. When you subscribe to a shared report, you can receive an email message each time Duet Enterprise delivers the report. You can open the report from the Report Center, or by clicking a link in the email message.

  • Request reports from a catalog of reports. The Report Settings page in the Report Center shows you a list of the reports that you have authorization to request.

  • Collaborate with co-workers about the report. You can create a discussion with colleagues about a report.
