Deployment Image Servicing and Management Technical Reference

3/21/2011

Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) is a command-line tool used to modify Windows Embedded Standard 7 images offline before deployment. You can use it to install, uninstall, configure, and update Standard 7 features, packages, drivers, and international settings. Subsets of the DISM servicing commands are also available for servicing a running operating system.

DISM can be used to service Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 3.0 images. DISM replaces several older tools, including PEimg, Intlcfg, and Package Manager.
