Requirements for a Development Computer

A development computer must meet or exceed the following hardware and software requirements to run Windows Embedded Standard 7 Toolkit. The development computer is the computer where you install Standard 7 Toolkit. For information about Standard 7 Toolkit, see Install Windows Embedded Standard 7 Toolkit on a Development Computer

Hardware Requirements

The development computer must meet or exceed the following hardware requirements:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (amd64) processor
  • 1 GB of system memory (32-bit), 2 GB of system memory (64-bit)
  • 7 GB free hard drive space for complete installation
  • One or more of the following media drives:
    • DVD-ROM drive
    • USB 2.0 port

Software Requirements

The development computer must meet or exceed the following software requirements:

  • It must be running one of the following operating systems:
    • Windows Vista Service Pack 1
    • Windows Vista Service Pack 2
    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows 7
  • It must have the following software installed:
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or higher
      You can download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 from this Microsoft Web site.
    • Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 or higher
      You can download and install Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 from this Microsoft Web site.
  • It must have network access if you plan to use a distribution share stored on the network or save your answer files or configuration sets to the network.
