Microsoft Ajax Library for Messenger Connect

Current information about Live Connect is now available in the Windows Live Developer Center. The information in the following sections is provided for legacy purposes only.

The Microsoft Live Messenger Connect UI Controls and components are built by using the ASP.NET Ajax Library, a free, lightweight JavaScript library. For more information, see AJAX: The Official Microsoft ASP.NET Site.

The library provides powerful data access features, a clean imperative syntax, an intelligent Script Loader, and rich IntelliSense support. The ASP.NET Ajax Library is designed to be interoperable with any server-side platform and seamlessly integrates with jQuery.

You can do the following with Messenger Connect because it is built with the ASP.NET Ajax Library:

  • Add Messenger Connect functionality to your Web site pages by using HTML markup declaratively, by using JavaScript dynamically, or both.
  • Create your own UI by using ASP.NET Ajax Library data binding with Messenger Connect data.
  • Use Messenger Connect tags and Messenger Library functionality at the same time.
