AuthenticationCompleted Delegate

Current information about Live Connect is now available in the Windows Live Developer Center. The information in the following sections is provided for legacy purposes only.

Invoked when the getConsent method of the current Auth instance is completed.

Feature:  Microsoft.Live
Namespace:  Microsoft.Live

function authenticationCompleted(eventArgs) {

Type: Microsoft.Live..::.AuthenticationCompletedEventArgs

The event data for the getConsent operation.

The eventArgs parameter is an instance of the AuthenticationCompletedEventArgs class. You use the AuthenticationCompletedEventArgs class to get authentication information from the auth property. The auth property exposes the state property, from which you get an AuthState value. The AuthState value indicates the status of the completed authentication operation.

The following example demonstrates a function that is called after authentication is completed. The AuthState value is used to display an appropriate message to the user.

function appAuthenticated(authenticationCompletedEventArgs) {
    var auth = authenticationCompletedEventArgs.get_auth();
    switch (auth.get_state()) {
        case Microsoft.Live.AuthState.authenticated:
            alert("Authentication completed.");
        case Microsoft.Live.AuthState.failed:
            alert("Authentication failed.");
            alert("Authentication unsuccessful.");
