Return Value

An instance of the DataContext class.

The JavaScript object model provides access to Messenger Connect data. After the user has a connection to a DataContext instance they can access all top-level data types. For each data type, various operations (create, read, update, and delete) are available. These operations are translated into programming patterns that are familiar to JavaScript developers, such as requesting data, constructing an object, and modifying its properties.

The following code example demonstrates obtaining a DataContext instance after a user has signed in.

    var dataContext = Microsoft.Live.App.get_dataContext();
