The JavaScript Library for Windows Live Messenger Connect is built by using the Microsoft Ajax Library. Microsoft Ajax exposes a type system that enables you to add object-oriented capabilities to your JavaScript code. To learn more about creating and using enumerations, see Creating Custom Client Script by Using the Microsoft Ajax Library.

// Declaration:
Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType = function() {};
Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType.prototype = {
    add    : 0,
    remove : 1,
    update : 2
};
Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType.registerEnum(
    'Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType',
    false);

// Usage:
if (Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType.update == value) {

}

The CollectionChangeType enumeration defines the values that are returned by the changeType property of the CollectionChangedEventArgs class.

The following code example demonstrates how to use the CollectionChangeType enumeration to determine the type of change that happened in a collection. In this example, the changeType property for the instance of CollectionChangedEventArgs is used to get the enumeration value.

function myCollectionChanged(collectionChangedEventArgs) {
    var changeType = Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType.toString(collectionChangedEventArgs.get_changeType());
    if (changeType == Microsoft.Live.Services.CollectionChangeType.update) {
        //Take action for the update.
    }
}
