LiveSmoothStreaming sample

The LiveSmoothStreaming sample encodes a media file into a preset smooth-streaming format for publishing. You can choose to archive the encoded media, broadcast it from a port, or stream to a publishing point.

To use the LiveSmoothStreaming sample, run the built application at a command prompt.

To use the LiveSmoothStreaming sample

  1. Build the ScreenCapture.csproj and run ScreenCapture.exe.

  2. In the Format menu, choose the final destination for your file, according to the following guidelines:

    • Choose Archive Files if you want to save your streaming file to disk.

    • Choose Publish to Server if you want to publish your file to a Live Smooth Streaming server. For more information about setting up a Live Smooth Streaming server, see the Expression Encoder User Guide.

    • Choose Broadcast to Port if you want to send your file to a local port.

  3. In the File menu, type the location of the file that you want to stream, or click Browse to navigate to it.

  4. Depending upon your Format choice, the box below the File box will have a different label. Type information into that box according to the following guidelines:

    • If the Format choice is Archive Files, the box is labeled Folder. Type the file path of the location where you want to save the archived file.

    • If the Format choice is Publish to Server, the box is labeled Publish. Type the Live Smooth Streaming server URL where you want to publish the file. For more information about publishing to a Live Smooth Streaming server, see the Expression Encoder User Guide.

    • If the Format choice is Broadcast to Port, the box is labeled Port. Type the local port number to which you wish to send the broadcast.

  5. Click Start Streaming to begin the live broadcast.
