Uninstall Previous Versions of the Microsoft ESB Guidance

For the Microsoft ESB Guidance to install properly, you must uninstall any previous release (such as an Alpha or CTP build). To manually uninstall the ESB Guidance, ensure that you perform at least the following tasks:
Delete the BizTalk applications named Microsoft.Practices.ESB and GlobalBank.ESB using the BizTalk Server 2006 Administration Console
Uninstall the BizTalk Practices ESB Event source running the command line:
InstallUtil /u "Microsoft.Practices.ESB.EventSource.dll"
Uninstall the following assemblies from the global assembly cache:
- Microsoft.Practices.ESB.*
- GlobalBank.ESB.*
Note
To quickly uninstall assemblies, navigate to the folder %WinDir%\assembly, select all the preceding assemblies, right-click, and then click Uninstall.
Delete all Microsoft.Practices.ESB.* pipeline components from the BizTalk Pipeline directory located, by default, at %Program Files%\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006\Pipeline Components\.
Delete all IIS virtual directories named ESB.*.
Delete all IIS application pools named ESB.*.
Un-deploy all the previously installed Microsoft ESB Guidance and Sample Business Rule Engine Policies and Vocabularies, as listed here:

Remove all Microsoft ESB Guidance–installed UDDI directory entries located in the following UDDI business providers:
- Microsoft.Practices.ESB
- Microsoft.Biztalk.ESB.UDDI
Note
If you are using the Microsoft UDDI Service, you can easily accomplish this by clicking the Publish link on the UDDI home page. This displays all the installed business providers in a tree view control on the left side. Highlight the preceding business providers, right-click, and then click Delete Provider.
Remove from the UDDI registry the Microsoft ESB Guidance installed tModel named microsoft-com:esb:runtimeresolution.
Note
If you are using the Microsoft UDDI server, you can easily accomplish this by clicking the Publish link on the UDDI home page. This displays all the installed tModel instances in a tree view control on the left side. Highlight the preceding tModel, right-click, and then click Delete tModel.
