File Viewer Keyboard Shortcuts

This section describes keyboard shortcuts that can be used to navigate within any Visual SourceSafe file viewer and to carry out certain commands.

  • HOME
    Goes to beginning of line (scroll display).
  • CTRL+HOME
    Goes to beginning of file (scroll display).
  • CTRL+END
    Goes to end of file (scroll display).
  • CTRL+LEFT ARROW
    Goes left one word.
  • CTRL+N
    Goes to next difference (supported in visual difference viewer only).
  • CTRL+P
    Goes to previous difference (supported in visual difference viewer only).
  • CTRL+RIGHT ARROW
    Goes right one word.
  • DOWN ARROW
    Goes down one line.
  • END
    Goes to end of line (scroll display).
  • LEFT ARROW
    Go left one character.
  • PAGE DOWN
    Goes down one page.
  • PAGE UP
    Scrolls display up one page.
  • RIGHT ARROW
    Goes right one character.
  • SHIFT+HOME
    Goes to beginning of line (scroll display). If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+HOME
    Goes to beginning of file (scroll display). If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+END
    Goes to end of file (scroll display). If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+LEFT ARROW
    Goes left one word. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+N
    Goes to next difference (supported in visual difference viewer only). If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+P
    Goes to previous difference (supported in visual difference viewer only). If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+RIGHT ARROW
    Geso right one word. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+DOWN ARROW
    Scrolls display down one page. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+END
    Goes to end of line (scroll display). If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+LEFT ARROW
    Goes left one character. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+PAGE DOWN
    Goes down one page. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+PAGE UP
    Goes up one page. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW
    Goes right one character. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • SHIFT+UP ARROW
    Goes up one page. If a selection is active, the accelerator key maintains the selection state and modifies the selection.
  • UP ARROW
    Goes up one line.

Shortcut Keys

  • CTRL+INS
    Copies text.
  • CTRL+C
    Copies text.
  • ALT+G
    Goes to specified line number.
  • ALT+S
    Finds a string in the viewed file.
  • F1
    Gets online Help on a specific item.
  • F3
    Finds next search string occurrence.
  • SHIFT+F3
    Finds previous search string occurrence.
  • SHIFT+CTRL+O
    Selects difference text (supported in visual difference viewer only).
