Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

Type: Automated Test

The WGF Async test verifies D3D graphics driver/hardware conformance for query and other asynchronous features that are not specifically tested elsewhere.

The Async Conformance Test Plan features the following characteristics:

  • Separate group for each query type

  • Queries tested for asynchronous (non-blocking) execution and correct values

  • Occlusion tested by rendering quads repeatedly with different depth functions

  • Predicates tested with all known predication functions (to ensure that they are predicated)

  • Counters tested with random amounts of geometry being rendered

  • Possibly considers issues with clipping in regards to pipeline statistics

Run Time: 1 minute
Log File: WGF11Async.xml

System Restart Required: No
Test Category: Display Adapter and Chipset
Supported operating systems for Logo or Signature testing:
  • Windows 7

  • Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Windows Vista

  • Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465) (Vista Only)

  • Platform Update for Windows Vista (KB971644) (Vista Only)

  • Windows Server 2008

Program: WGF11Async.exe.

The test tool requires the following software:

  • Supported operating system (see list above)

  • Software components included with the device that is being tested

Hardware Requirements

The test tool requires the following hardware:

  • Device to be tested

  • Computer that meets the minimum software requirements

  • Windows keyboard

  • Two-button pointing device

  • Color display monitor capable of at least 1024 by 768 resolution, 32-bits per pixel, 60 Hz

  • x86

  • x64

Running the Test

All test cases return PASS or FAIL. Review the test results in the log file for specific details about failures.

The test might return SKIP if it is run with a feature level that doesn't support the feature being tested.

The test might return BLOCKED if there is an uncaught exception (framework catches it at the end and logs it).
