Running the Secure Digital Host Controller Tests

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

To test Secure Digital Host controllers, you must:

  1. In DTM Studio, open the Device Console window (on the Explorers menu, click Device Console).

Device Console should appear, as shown in the following screen shot.

  2. In the Submission list, click <New Submission>. (This option will help you create a submission package that is required for a logo for the appropriate Microsoft Windows product. This procedure shows the steps for a Windows Vista Basic logo.)

The Create New Submission wizard will appear. This wizard describes the various Windows operating system combinations and platforms that you can use to acquire a logo.

  3. In the Create New Submission wizard, select the correct operating system and platform that the test machines in the machine pools have, and then click Next. (This procedure uses the Windows Vista Client option as an example.)

  4. Under Select Category, select the Device Submission category, and then click Next.

  5. Under Logo Programs, select Bus Controllers and Ports > Secure Digital Host Controller, and then click Next.

  6. Under Qualification Level, select the Basic or Premium qualification level for the logo programs, and then click Next. (This procedure uses a Basic program as an example. There is not a Premium logo for the Secure Digital Host controller category.)

  7. In the Name for new submission box, enter a descriptive name for your submission package, and under Machine Pool, select the machine pool on which you want to run the tests for the submission package.

  8. After you have selected a machine pool and given the package a name, click Next.

  9. The following screen appears where you can specify if you need to submit drivers that will be part of the submission.

In this example, the drivers for Secure Digital Host controllers are included in the operating system (which is Windows Vista in this example). Because the driver is already included in the operating system, select I am not providing an INF or Driver Package, and then click Next.

Note  The logo requirements for Secure Digital Host controllers require that the device must not require an external driver; it must work with the included generic Windows Vista driver. This requirement enables you to create a submission package without including a custom INF file with it.

  10. In the devices tree in the left pane, select the device that you are testing, click Next, and then click Finish to create a submission package.

  11. In the Submission list, select the submission package that you just created.

DTM will load all of the required files and present you with a list of available jobs that are related to the submission package. It will also show you a brief summary of the conditions that the tests will be running against on the left side of the screen (including the device, and so on).

  12. In the Available Jobs list, select the tests, and click Add Selected to make the jobs ready for scheduling.

The jobs that you selected now appear in the pane below with a short description of each job.

  13. Click Schedule Jobs, and the DTM controller will start scheduling the jobs to run on the machines in the pool.
