Type: Manual Test

Overview

The Refresh Rate test verifies that the monitor supports ergonomic timing standards for CRTs. It also verifies the preferred display mode of the monitor (both CRT and LCD) based on the monitors EDID. In addition, the test checks for the support of the Industry Standard Timings for 640 x4 80 pixel format at 60 Hz refresh.

Details

This test examines supported modes (ergonomic modes for CRTs and the preferred mode for both CRTs and LCDs) in a monitor's extended display identification data (EDID) and verifies that the monitor can properly change to display in each mode. The test also tries to set 640 x 480 mode with a 60 Hz refresh to verify support for it.

Run Time: 1-5 mins (depending on the number of modes found)

Running Refresh Rate

  1. Start the test.

  2. If the test finds any modes with ergonomic timings (CRTs), it will change to them, one by one, and display a message to let the user verify that each mode is correctly visible.

  3. The test will change to the preferred mode and let the user verify that it is correctly visible.

  4. The test will change to 640 x 480 at 60Hz and let the user verify that it is correctly visible (/DVI switch).

Command Syntax

Command option Description

/LCD

Runs the test for LCDs (Ergonomic timing is not verified). If this option is not specified, the test assumes the monitor to be a CRT and verified ergonomic modes too.

/DVI

Checks for the support of 640x480@60Hz
