2.1.1470 Part 4 Section 5.7.2.42, dispBlanksAs (Display Blanks As)

a. The standard states the default value of the val attribute is zero.

Office uses a default value of gap for chart types that support displaying blanks as gaps. Otherwise, the default value is zero.

This note applies to the following products: 2007, 2007 SP1, 2007 SP2.

b. The standard places no restriction on @val beyond ST_DisplayBlanksAs.

The following table shows which chart types support which methods of displaying blank cells. The supported methods often depend on the chart’s grouping (“[ECMA-376] Part 4 §5.7.2.76; grouping (Grouping)”) type.
