a.   The standard defines the attribute fo:hyphenate, contained within the element <style:text-properties>

This attribute is supported in core Word 2007.

Word 2007 has an auto-hyphenation property at the document level and a "do not hyphenate" property at the paragraph level. The ODF auto-hyphenation property is stored at the text property level.

On load, Word 2007 sets the document-level auto-hyphenation property to true. If a paragraph style is set to not to auto-hyphenate the current paragraph, then Word 2007 sets the paragraph-level "do not hyphenate" property to true. Otherwise, Word 2007 sets this property to false.

On save, Word 2007 always sets fo:hyphenate to true in the text properties of the default paragraph style. For each paragraph style in the document, Word 2007 sets fo:hyphenate to true or fo:hyphenate to false based on the value used in the default paragraph style.

Word 2007 does not support the fo:hyphenate property from any other styles that can contain a style:text-properties element. For example, if text is contained within a span that is within a paragraph, then Word 2007 ignores the value of fo:hyphenate defined by the span and applies the value defined by the paragraph.

This attribute is not supported on save for text in SmartArt and chart titles and labels.

This attribute is not supported in core Excel 2007.

This attribute is not supported on load for text in any of the following elements:

  • <draw:rect>

  • <draw:polyline>

  • <draw:polygon>

  • <draw:regular-polygon>

  • <draw:path>

  • <draw:circle>

  • <draw:ellipse>

  • <draw:caption>

  • <draw:measure>

  • <draw:frame>

  • <draw:text-box>

  • <draw:custom-shape>

    This attribute is not supported on save for text in any of the following items:

  • text boxes

  • shapes

  • SmartArt

  • chart titles

  • labels

This attribute is not supported on load for text in the following elements:
