3.1.4.2 Opening the PNRP Cloud

The operations to search and open a PNRP Cloud are defined in [MS-PNRP] section 3.1.4.1. The cloud MUST be determined based on the Cloud Scope and Cloud Name provided by the higher-layer application, as specified in 2.2.1.1:

  • If the Cloud Name specified by the higher-layer application is available on the local host, the Cloud of the Cloud Name MUST be opened.

  • Otherwise, if the Cloud Name is a private Cloud name, and if there is another private Cloud already existing on the local machine, the local private Cloud MUST be opened. The Cloud Name MUST be set to the Cloud name of the local private Cloud opened.

  • Otherwise, the operation MUST be terminated and it is recommended that the Grouping Security Protocol notify the higher-layer application of the failure.
