RDO Data Control for Visual Basic 6.0 Users

The Visual Basic 6.0 RDO Data Control has no direct equivalent in Visual Basic 2005.

Conceptual Differences

The Visual Basic 6.0 RDO Data Control is used as a mechanism for binding controls to a database using Remote Data Objects (RDO). In Visual Basic 2005, the data-binding architecture has changed, and RDO is no longer supported. For more information, see Data Access for Visual Basic 6.0 Users.

Upgrade Notes

When a Visual Basic 6.0 application is upgraded to Visual Basic 2005, any instances of the RDO Data Control are not upgraded, and an upgrade error is issued. You will need to either modify your Visual Basic 6.0 application to use ADO (ActiveX Data Objects) prior to upgrading, or modify any data-binding code in the upgraded application to use the new data architecture.
