Checking for DTS Task Execution Errors

When you run a DTS task, it might fail to complete properly. A task that fails to complete when the package that contains it is run, is labeled "Failed" in the Executing Package dialog box. You use the Task History to view the history of all tasks run. You can use the Task History to help diagnose problems with DTS tasks that fail.

You use Task History to view task status, and to view tasks in the following ways:

  • Small Icons
  • Large Icons
  • List
  • Detail

The detail view provides the following information about tasks:

  • Description
  • Start time
  • End time
  • Status

To check for package execution errors

  • Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, expand Data Warehouse 1, right-click Task History, click View, and then click Details.

The detailed Task History appears in the right pane.
