Auto-Partitioning

All cubes shipped with Commerce Server 2002 are enabled for auto-partitioning. When the Report preparation task is run, it analyses the fact table data for the cubes using information present in the CubeProcInfo table. If rows exist in the PartitioningKeySource tables that have PartitioningKey values greater than those covered by existing partitions, new partitions will be added as needed to hold the new data. By default, new partitions cover a range of 20 million key values. This value can be adjusted by modifying the PartitionSize value for the cube in the CubeProcInfo table. Note that changing the PartitionSize does not affect existing partitions. It only affects the size of partitions that are subsequently created.
