WindowsClaimsPrincipal.Identity Property

[Starting with the .NET Framework 4.5, Windows Identity Foundation (WIF) has been fully integrated into the .NET Framework. Gets the user associated with this principal.

Property Value

The IIdentity that represents the Windows identity (user) for this principal.

Exceptions

Exception type Condition
InvalidOperationException

The Identities property does not contain a WindowsClaimsIdentity.

Remarks

This property returns a WindowsClaimsIdentity from the identity objects associated with this principal. The identity objects can be accessed from the Identities property. If there is no WindowsClaimsIdentity associated with this principal, the InvalidOperationException exception is thrown.

Thread Safety

Any public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe.
