Internet Connection Sharing Catalog Items and Sysgen Variables (Compact 2013)

In Windows Embedded Compact, you can connect multiple devices on a network located in a home, a small business, or a corporate office to the Internet through a single Internet connection by adding Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to your OS.

The following table describes the catalog items and associated SYSGEN variables you can use to add ICS functionality to your OS.

SYSGEN_GATEWAY

Provides a collection of services that multiple devices can use to share a single Internet connection.

Available for devices with or without displays.

Gateway Logging

SYSGEN_GATEWAY_LOGGING

Provides support for logging system events (such as Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection events or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) requests) or potential attacks (such as port scans by other clients on the network).

IP Network Address Translation (NAT)

SYSGEN_IPNAT

Supports Network Address Translation.

If device needs ICS, enable SYSGEN_IPNAT.
