Content Protection Hardware Considerations (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

Analog and digital copy protection prevents unauthorized duplication of copyrighted materials. Although the following content protection hardware is optional, some protected multimedia content does not play without this hardware:

  • Copy Generation Management System for Analog (CGMS-A)
  • High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)
  • Macrovision
  • Serial Copy Management System (SCMS)

The smart card is a technology that you can optionally implement for content protection or security reasons.
