Getting Started with Testing a Thin Client (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

After you have downloaded the thin client run-time image to the standard development board or Windows Embedded CE PC-based platform (CEPC), you can test it by connecting it to a server that is running Terminal Services. You must know the name of the server before you follow these steps.
Note
You must attach a display screen and an input device to the standard development board or CEPC in order to complete this procedure. You must also connect the standard development board or CEPC to the network. To test the Windows thin client image
Turn on the standard development board or CEPC. Instructions may vary depending on the CEPC or the standard development board. For example, you might turn the power switch on the board to the On position.
Download the run-time image to the standard development board or CEPC. For more information, see Downloading a Run-Time Image.
In the Terminal Connection Manager dialog box, select Configure, and then select Add.
Select Microsoft Remote Desktop Client as the type of connection to create, and select OK.
In the WTC Connection Wizard, type a friendly name for the new connection, type the name of the terminal server, and then select Next.
Optionally, type a user name for logging on to the server, and then select Next.
Finish the wizard, selecting to log on automatically, if you want.
In the Terminal Connection Manager dialog box, select the name of the new connection in the Connection Name area.
If you chose to log on automatically, the host desktop UI appears when the connection is established. Otherwise, the logon screen appears. If the logon screen appears, enter a user name and password for the server.
After you have connected to the server, test the functionality of the thin client based on the Catalog items that you added to your OS design.
After these steps are complete, you have logged on to the server and established a connection between the thin client run-time image and the server.
