How to Use the BSP for the NEC Solution Gear 2-Vr5500 Development Kit (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

You can use the sample board support package (BSP) provided by Windows Embedded CE 6.0 for the NEC Solution Gear 2-Vr5500 Development Kit to quickly evaluate the Windows Embedded CE operating system (OS) features.

For more information about the sample BSPs included in Platform Builder for MIPS microprocessors, see MIPS BSPs.

Hardware and Software Assumptions

  • You included support for MIPSII, MIPSII_FP, MIPSIV, and MIPSIV_FP microprocessors when you installed Platform Builder. If you did not, reinstall Platform Builder and include MIPSII, MIPSII_FP, MIPSIV, and MIPSIV_FP microprocessor support.
  • You are downloading a Windows Embedded CE run-time image to an NEC Solution Gear 2-Vr5500 Development Kit.

To use the BSP for the NEC Solution Gear 2-Vr5500 Development Kit, follow the steps in the table below.

Step Topic

1. From the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 OS Design Wizard, select the NEC DDB-Vr5500A: MIPSII, MIPSII_FP, MIPSIV, or MIPSIV_FP BSP.

If you are unsure which configuration to use, select the MIPSIV_FP BSP, the PDA Device design template, and the Enterprise Web Pad variant. Accept the defaults for the other pages of the wizards.

2. Review the supported hardware and software features on the SDB and familiarize yourself with limitations that can affect your run-time image on the SDB.

An SDB is a hardware development system with which you can develop and test your OS design using a wide range of processors and peripherals. For more information, see Standard Development Board Design.
