Downloading the Run-Time Image to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

If the Windows Embedded CE boot loader is already downloaded to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board, you can download a run-time image through a USB cable, or on a SD/MMC card.

To download a run-time image to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board through a USB cable

  1. Configure your terminal emulation software (such as Microsoft HyperTerminal) with the following settings:

    Bits per second Data bits Parity Stop bits Flow control

    38400

    8

    None

    1

    None

    This enables you to see the debug output once you have downloaded the run-time image to the device.

  2. Turn on the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board.

  3. Open Visual Studio 2005.

  4. From the File menu, choose Open Project/Solution.

  5. From the Open Project dialog box, navigate to the debug or release directory in %_WINCEROOT%\OSDesigns\<project name>\RelDir, and choose the Nk.bin file.

  6. Configure a USB connection to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board.

    Note

    Once you have configured a connection to your target device, you may need to reset the device before the download process can begin. For more information, see Resetting a Target Device.

  7. From the Target menu, choose Attach Device.

    A dialog box displays a progress indicator for the download. Click the Close button when the download is complete.

  8. Verify that you have successfully downloaded a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 run-time image to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board.

To download a run-time image to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board on a SD/MMC card

  1. Copy the run-time image onto a SD/MMC card.

  2. Insert the card into the SD/MMC slot.

  3. Turn on the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board.

  4. Press the SPACEBAR to enter the boot loader configuration menu.

  5. Enter Select Boot Device menu.

  6. Select SD/MMC Card option.

  7. Enter the run-time image file name or accept the default.

Note

The boot loader only supports ASCII file names.

  1. Exit the configuration menu and continue the boot sequence.
  2. Verify that you have successfully downloaded a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 image to the TI OMAP5912 Aruba Board.
