If you want to submit apps for listing in the Office Store, you need to create an account in the Microsoft Seller Dashboard. If you want to offer apps for purchase, you also have to add payout information in the Seller Dashboard. This article provides information about the items that you need to prepare in order to create your account.

Important note Important

To verify that you reside in a country or region that the Seller Dashboard supports, see Regional Information for the Microsoft Seller Dashboard.

You can choose one of the following account types:

Important note Important

You won’t be able to change the account type, so it is important that you choose the correct type when you are creating your account.

  • Company account - If you are registering on behalf of a corporation, limited liability company (LLC), partnership, or other company legally registered with your local government.

  • Individual account - If you are registering as an independent developer.

Prepare your account information ahead of time to make creating your account in the Seller Dashboard faster and easier. Part of your account is your marketing profile that describes your expertise and tells customers how your apps can benefit them and address their business needs. A well-written marketing profile can substantially increase customer interest in your apps.

To complete your account in the Seller Dashboard, you need the items in the following checklist.

Microsoft account

Both

Use your company’s Microsoft account to sign in to the Seller Dashboard. You can associate only one Microsoft account with your company account. If your company doesn’t already have a Microsoft account, you can sign up for one on the Seller Dashboard sign-in page.

Important note Important

If your company is already registered in Microsoft marketplaces with a Microsoft account, you must use that same Microsoft account to register in the Seller Dashboard. You won’t be able to register your company in the Seller Dashboard with a different Microsoft account. The information you provide in the Seller Dashboard must be consistent with the information you provided in the Microsoft marketplaces with the same Microsoft account. For example, your company name and address must be the same.

Company name

Company

Provide your company name as part of your marketing profile.

Tip Tip
  • Your company name in the Seller Dashboard must be the full registered name of your company, and it must be unique from any other marketing profile identities in the Seller Dashboard. Also, Microsoft will verify that you have permission to submit apps for this company. If your company is registered in Microsoft marketplaces, your company name must be the same in the marketplaces and in the Seller Dashboard.

  • When you provide your company name, we strive to avoid any name duplication with brand names and other company names. This may be for a company that has already registered in our marketplaces or that has a presence in your region. If you choose a name that is too common or that is too similar to another company name, we may decline your request for approval and ask you to choose a different name.

Display name

Individual

This is the customer-facing name for your marketing profile. Customers identify you by this name.

Tip Tip
  • Your display name must be unique from any other account display names in the Seller Dashboard. Otherwise, it won’t be approved.

Logo

Both

Your logo is an image for your partner profile. Customers identify your company with this logo.

Tip Tip
  • Your logo image must be in one of the following file formats: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, or .gif. It must be exactly 96 x 96 pixels, and no greater than 250 KB.

  • We recommend that you scan your logo with a current version of virus detection software, and upload it to the Seller Dashboard only if it passes the virus scan. If you need virus detection software, see Microsoft Safety & Security Center.

Tip Tip

Logo requirements are the same as those listed in the Tip for company accounts.

Description

Both

This is your company’s marketing profile. It’s a general overview of the skills and expertise of your company. Brief, concise descriptions look better on webpages.

For example:

Litware is a leader in providing cross-platform mobile apps that just work. Gain your competitive edge with Litware’s apps for Office that you can use with your Office 365 subscription. Litware has been in software development for 23 years and has industry-leading expertise, support, and prices that are easy on your bottom line.

Tip Tip
  • Your description is required. It can be up to 4000 characters, but brief descriptions look better on webpages. The description field is plain text only—it won’t display tables, bold, italics, or any other rich-text formatting. Be sure to correct any editorial issues, such as misspellings or grammatical errors.

  • To add a bulleted list, surround each list item with [#LI] and [/#LI], or use hyphens ("-") as bullets.

    Note Note

At this time, you can use only one bulleted list in your description.

Both

Provide your residential address and personal phone number. This information is for identity verification purposes only.

Same requirements as for company account.

Your contact information and website

Both

Company reference
