Accessing the Tools from within Visual Studio

Three Commerce Server 2009 tools are available from within Visual Studio 2008. These tools are as follows:

  • Commerce Server Manager

  • Commerce Server Pipeline Editor

  • Commerce Server Resources

This topic describes how to start each of these Commerce Server 2009 tools.

Commerce Server Manager

Commerce Server Manager is a tool that you use to manage and configure Commerce Server 2009 resources, sites, applications, and Web servers. Commerce Server Manager is a plug-in for Microsoft Management Console (MMC), a Windows-based interface that is included in the Microsoft Windows Server operating system.

To access Commerce Server Manager from within Visual Studio, on the Website menu, point to Commerce Server Project, and then click Commerce Server Manager.

You can also access Commerce Server Manager by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Commerce Server 2009 , and then clicking Commerce Server Manager.

Pipeline Editor

The Pipeline Editor is the Commerce Server 2009 application that you use to create and edit Commerce Server 2009 pipelines. You can use it to edit a pipeline on the local computer or on a computer connected to a local area network (LAN).

To access the Commerce Server 2009 Pipeline Editor from within Visual Studio, on the Website menu, point to Commerce Server Project, and then click Pipeline Editor.

Note

You can also access the Commerce Server Pipeline Editor by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Commerce Server 2009 , pointing to Tools, and then clicking Pipeline Editor.

Commerce Server Resources

You can display the Commerce Server Resources module window, and use it to view or change the properties of Commerce Server 2009 resources.

To access the Commerce Server Resources module window, on the Website menu, point to Commerce Server Project, and then click Resources. The Commerce Server Resources module window appears within the Microsoft Visual Studio window.

Everything that you can do within the Commerce Server Resources module window you can also do within Commerce Server Manager.
