Starting a project
To start working with Deep Zoom Composer, the first thing you need to do is create a new project. For more information, see Create a new project.
After you've created a new project, you can begin adding images to your project in the Import workspace. In this workspace, you can see the entire gallery of images that you import into the current project, and also preview individual images in the gallery. You will see the file type, file size, and dimensions of the selected image at the lower left of the application window.
Tip
The first thing you have to do after creating a Deep Zoom Composer project is add images to work with. Click the Add image button in the upper-right corner of the Import workspace.
Project structure
Each Deep Zoom Composer project you create contains the following folders and files:
Default project folder You can specify the folder where you want to save your project files. By default, Deep Zoom Composer will save them in the following location:
Windows 7 C:\Users\<user>\My Documents\Expression\Deep Zoom Composer Projects
Vista C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Expression\Deep Zoom Composer Projects
Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\Expression\Deep Zoom Composer Projects
Source images All projects have a source images folder where all the images you import into a project are stored.
Working data Deep Zoom Composer creates a folder inside the working data folder for each image you import into a project. These image folders contain the files needed for quickly zooming in and out on the artboard.
Project file Each project has a .dzprj file that contains project-related information, such as the arrangement of a composition, the stack order of images and hotspots, and so on.
Default export folder You can specify the folder where you want to save your exported compositions. By default, Deep Zoom Composer will save them in the following location:
Windows 7 C:\Users\<user>\My Documents\Expression\Deep Zoom Composer Projects\<project name>\Exported Data
Vista C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Expression\Deep Zoom Composer Projects\<project name>\Exported Data
Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\Expression\Deep Zoom Composer Projects\<project name>\Exported Data
