IAMAudioInputMixer::put_Loudness method (strmif.h)

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The put_Loudness method enables or disables the loudness control.

Syntax

HRESULT put_Loudness(
  [in] BOOL fLoudness
);

Parameters

[in] fLoudness

Specifies whether loudness is on or off. Use one of the following values.

Value Description
TRUE Sets loudness on.
FALSE Sets loudness off.

Return value

If the method succeeds, it returns S_OK. Otherwise it returns an HRESULT error code.

Remarks

Loudness boosts the bass of low volume signals before they are recorded, to compensate for the fact that the ear does not hear quiet bass sounds as well as other sounds.
