NBNS replication protocol MUST be transported by TCP. By default NBNS server SHOULD listen on port 42, and it MUST be configurable. NBNS replication partner AutoDiscovery MUST be transported by UDP. All the NBNS servers to be AutoDiscovered MUST listen on the multicast address 224.0.1.24. By default, NBNS servers SHOULD be listening on port 42 for AutoDiscovery messages.<2>
